AZ IS A COMMUNITY PROPERTY STATE:

The information contained below is based upon our interpretation of the statutes, our experience in family law and what we think most judges will order with this experience in mind.

Community property is defined roughly as everything acquired after the date of marriage until service of process. “Community” applies to both assets and liabilities obtained before or after the date of marriage. It is a crucial concept in Arizona Family Law. For example, when using a credit card, it may not matter which party’s name is on the credit card, but when the charges were incurred.
